Overview

As a communications expert, you are in charge of the program's internal and external communications in order to foster internal cooperation and effectively convey program activities and outcomes to various target audiences. As part of your job, you create and implement relevant, original communication and visibility concepts, ideas, products, and activity formats. Working together with your line manager, other team members, and partner institutions is necessary for this.

Responsibilities

• Organizing and supervising effective external and internal communication strategies, plans, and activities with an emphasis on outcomes and success stories that are cohesive, tailored to the intended audience, and powerful. • creating and distributing external communication materials (such as websites, fact sheets, presentations, brochures, posters, newsletters, photo databases, films, infographics, banners, pull-ups, and social media posts) in accordance with organization and donor (BMZ/EU) standards. • managing links with the local media (including press releases and packages, press conferences and visits, media coverage monitoring, etc.) and planning communication initiatives like public events or VIP visits • Offering program management and team, as well as partner institutions, capacity building and technical and strategic communications guidance • supporting the program team's internal communication and information sharing as well as contributions to organizational and international communications channels and projects. • Concerning the aforementioned areas, make sure that: (i) organization rules and procedures are followed, as well as that work processes and results are appropriately documented; (ii) procurement preparation, supplier and service provider monitoring, and quality control are done; (iii) close coordination with team members, partner institution involvement, and communication with other organization projects, the cluster, country, and head offices are taken into consideration; and (iv) cross-cutting topics like gender equality are taken into consideration.

Requirements

• A degree from a university in public relations, journalism, development communication, or a related field • three years of professional experience in the communication industry, including expertise in journalism, internal communications, public relations, and media relations; • knowledge of Ghana's media environment is also a plus; preferably, experience with strategic communication with relation to development programs • Skill in visual communication and background in audiovisual and other media creation; • Outstanding writing, editing, and copywriting abilities (for press releases, articles, etc.); and the capacity to comprehend and convey complex ideas in plain language for a wider audience • Proficiency in project and event management, encompassing planning, financial planning, and coordination
