Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Overview

This is a Heavy Duty Mechanic full-time on-site position in Tarkwa. Trucks, excavators, and other heavy machinery used in mining operations must be maintained and repaired by the Heavy Duty Mechanic. This individual will carry out all required preventative maintenance procedures as well as the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical issues. Maintaining correct records of all maintenance and repair work, welding and manufacturing metal structures, and making sure health and safety requirements are followed are among the other responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Inspecting and diagnosing mechanical issues in heavy equipment.

Repairing and maintaining engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.

Conducting routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and filter replacements.

Troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems.

Ordering and replacing parts as needed.

 Keeping detailed records of repairs and maintenance work.

Ensuring equipment meets safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

Heavy duty mechanic experience in the mining or a similar industry.

Excellent mechanical ability and problem-solving abilities.

The capacity to use and diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Expertise in metal structure fabrication and welding

The capacity to decipher schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.

Strong interpersonal and administrative abilities, as well as the capacity to function in a group setting.

It is preferred to have prior experience with Komatsu and Caterpillar equipment.

A technical degree, certification in heavy duty mechanics, or a high school diploma are advantageous.
