Overview

To facilitate the butt welding of poly (HDPE) pipes using a range of methods and ensure a safe and controlled connection between in-pit sump pumps and authorized ponds.

Responsibilities

Pump Operations Planning and Execution

Before beginning any work, make sure you speak with the Dewatering Supervisor to find out where the water will be pumped to and to make sure the system stays open.

Before beginning any work, perform inspections of the following areas:

Pipes and leak detection valves.

The pump's gasoline level.

Holes around the pit for sumps.

Pumps should be installed in stages or phases, and pipelines should be connected to pumps.

Finalize the prestart examination of the poly welding equipment and the pumps.

Inform the Dewatering supervisor of any defects you see.

Record flow readings from boreholes and notify the dewatering supervisor of any problems you find.

Request feedback on flow rate from the water treatment or process plant.

Disconnect all pumps for blasting activities.

Check pressure gauges, RPM’s, vacuum gauges and load factors, and record these on the key performance indicator (KPI) sheet.

Obtain and take flow meter readings at the start and the end of the shift.

Ensue that pumps are inspected and ready to supply water for water bowers for dust suppression purposes.

Conduct the installation of standpipes.

Ensure safe slipping of pipe along the pit high walls.

Monitor the operation of the pumps to ensure that the water in the sump(s) are pumped from the pit to the designated pond.

Poly welding Operations Planning and Execution

Recognize the kind, dimensions, and fittings needed for the welding of polypipes.

Stay within the job's limitations.

Plastic surfaces should be cleaned and ready for filing, beveling, gouging, and welding.

Plastic pipe can be bent and shaped with the aid of machines, manual tools, or heat-based methods.

Using measuring tools and hand tools, align and measure pipes for joining.

Utilizing a variety of welding, precise, and bolting procedures, fuse HDPE parts together.

After welding, clean, file, and polish the product.

Carry out the pipeline building, installation, and laying in the pit as well as the pipeline flipping over towering walls.

Uphold QA/QC requirements when doing fusion or pipe welding operations.

Install attachments and attach hoses to the pond and pit.

Use a fusion machine to do welding tasks.

General Execution

Set daily goals and priorities for your personal activity.

For instructions on how to perform each pump and polywelding task, read, understand, and abide by the drawings and blueprints.

Obtain from the Supervisor the tools and supplies needed to complete the work at hand.

Verify that all ongoing projects and activities adhere to all rules, codes, and specifications.

Assist in meeting the objectives for dewatering and mine water treatment.

Take part in routine safety and tool audits.

Take part in additional training to improve your skills.

Give the supervisor vocal input regarding the tasks you accomplished during the day.

Stakeholder Management and Engagement

Liaise with the Load and Haul Supervisor to obtain necessary equipment required for pump installations.

Liaise with the Hydrotechnical team and submit completed KPI sheets to them.

Liaise with the blast crew in understanding blast times to make safety pre-preparations with regards to pumps and piping.

Ensure own dewatering and water treatment shift work meets established statutory standards.

Health and Safety Management

Inspect work areas and ensure all areas comply with internal Newmont and external regulatory standards.

Adhere strictly to internal Newmont water management and dewatering standards.

Comply with safe dewatering procedures.

Maintain a strong focus of safety throughout all activities.

Provide hands-on assistance during operations activities to fellow colleagues to ensure that safe work practices are followed.

Attend daily morning safety meetings.
