Overview

Within the parameters of Polytechnic laws and regulations, the Librarian will be in charge of the overall management and leadership of the Polytechnic Library with regard to human, financial, and material resources.

Responsibilities

Manage library resources and collections.

Assist patrons with research and information needs.

Organize and classify materials for easy access.

Develop and implement library programs and events.

Maintain library cataloging systems.

Provide guidance on library policies and procedures.

Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to enhance library services.

Requirements

A minimum of a Master of Philosophy in Science, Information Management, Libraries, or a similar discipline with a respectable amount of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Professional qualification that is pertinent.

Must have worked in a postsecondary institution for at least four (4) years in the grade of deputy librarian.

Ten to fifteen (10–15) years managing an academic library, or five to seven (5-7) years serving in a senior management or supervisory role comparable to the position.

Strong understanding of library and information material classification and cataloging.

Proven capacity to establish and oversee an academic library, as well as solid knowledge of library management.

Possess a crucial understanding of the entire modem library management process and be able to handle a wide range of challenging tasks.

Strong familiarity with contemporary portal technologies as well as more conventional administration systems used in libraries.
