The agronomist is in charge of creating and carrying out experiments to enhance yield and best agronomic practices, and they answer directly to the farm manager. The position is also in charge of keeping the farm informed about the best methods for growing and harvesting moringa.
Planning
Create and carry out trials to raise BAPs and yields.
Collect precise and thorough data so that projections and decisions may be made using data.
Nucleus Farm
Regular visits to the nucleus farm
Support planning, strategy, and implementation for all aspects of farm operations
Study the farm's crop production in order to discern the best ways to plant, harvest, and cultivate the Moringa plant, creating a “center of excellence” for moringa
Investigate and address any epidemic issues affecting cultivation or production in the area.
Conduct field experiments to identify and recommend organic inputs and practices to boost production
Certifications
Support farm management team to achieve and maintain certifications
Collaborate with the certification teams on all aspects of certification related to farming and cultivation
Ensure compliance with all certification requirements for the farm
Training
Compile and update best practices for cultivating moringa within all contexts and under all relevant methodologies
Work with Farm team to create effective training materials and modules for dissemination to all engaged parties
Reporting
Prepare regular reports summarizing agronomic and agricultural learnings to be implemented or explored further
General
Perform other duties appropriate to this role, as may be required by the Company from time to time.
Agricultural bachelor's degree (ideally with agronomy, soil science, or crop science concentration).
Five years or more of work experience in a comparable position
Experience gained from working on a farm certified organic.
Familiarity in using farm equipment and machinery.
Expertise managing a wide variety of team members.
Practical knowledge of optimal practices for regenerative farming and organic certification
A demonstrated history of carrying out agronomic research and gathering, evaluating, and interpreting data.
Proficient in Twi with outstanding critical thinking, problem-solving, listening, speaking, and organizing abilities
Be prepared to go to the agricultural site and live there (Eastern Region)
Hold a current driver's license
Tech savvy and with strong experience using Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Earth, Google Forms, and Google Calendar
