In order to maintain a safe environment in the ethanol production, we are seeking a driven Health and Safety Officer who will be in charge of putting safety procedures into action and supervising them.
• To guarantee adherence to all safety laws and guidelines, develop and implement safety policies and procedures. • To find possible safety risks and hazards, conduct inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits. • To raise employee knowledge of safety and lower accident rates, develop and implement safety training programs and materials. • Examine and document incidents, injuries, and near-misses; then, take the necessary steps to ensure that they don't happen again. • Stay abreast of safety laws and rules, and make sure that all advice is followed to fulfill the necessary requirements. • Work together with other team members, departments, and outside organizations to make sure that safety-related issues are handled quickly and effectively. • Keep up-to-date safety records and paperwork, including as training records, incident reports, and safety statistics. • Address the safety concerns raised by staff members, and offer direction and assistance in addressing problems and enhancing overall safety performance. Create, put into practice, and uphold policies, plans, and strategies to safeguard workers, assets, and facilities from risks to their health and safety at work. • Evaluate risks and hazards at work and suggest appropriate countermeasures. • Accountable for conducting workplace and equipment inspections, as well as supporting safety management system audits. • To find possible safety concerns and make sure that defined safety procedures are being followed, conduct routine audits and inspections. • Examine events and mishaps, identify underlying reasons, and put remedial measures in place to stop them from happening again. • To raise awareness, conduct frequent safety training sessions and plan powerful safety campaigns. • Keep precise records and paperwork for training, incidents, and safety inspections.
• A bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, safety, or a related discipline • Three or more years of experience, ideally in an industrial setting in Ghana, in a function connected to safety. • Qualifications that are pertinent, such as Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Certified Hazardous Professional (CSP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP). • Competence in hazard identification, safety audits, and inspection. • Experienced in developing emergency response plans specific to the manufacturing sector, taking into account a range of eventualities. • Familiar with Ghanaian safety requirements, including those pertaining to OSHA compliance. • Extensive familiarity with safety standards, laws, and recommended procedures. • Proficiency with the use and upkeep of safety gear, including as eye protection, fire extinguishers, and hazardous material shields. • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to recognize and reduce any dangers. • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and ANSI requirements as well as other standards and regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety • Excellent communication abilities both in writing and speaking, with the capacity to explain complicated safety information to a range of audiences • Familiarity with safety management systems and best practices, such as OSHA VPP, ISO 45001, or comparable systems • Possess a strong sense of accountability and responsibility and the capacity to work both individually and collaboratively.
