Overview

The Commercialization Expert will oversee and direct the chosen product(s)' successful commercialization. Their goal is to make sure that the product or products they have chosen meet market demands, have a clear route to commercialization, and are successfully introduced to the industry for collaborations, manufacturing, and human capital for widespread use, adoption, and possible export.

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed market research to identify commercial opportunities aligned with research outputs and innovation initiatives in Ghana. Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and prioritise projects and innovations for commercialisation potential and societal impact. Utilise Innovation Market and Value Chain Map (IMVCM) tools to guide strategy development and implementation. Facilitate the product discovery process, including moderating product discovery sessions and spearheading the shortlisting process, to identify the most promising product(s) for further development/ venture capitalism. Identify strategic partnerships and collaborations to support market entry and product scaling. Craft a robust lab-to-market strategy to guide the commercialisation efforts of selected projects. This comprehensive strategy will encompass various aspects such as business model refinement, sales and marketing strategies, product performance optimisation, and detailed work planning. Oversee the execution of the lab-to-market work plan, ensuring diligent implementation of identified tasks, milestones, and timelines to drive the commercialisation process forward. Organise a strategic product launch event to unveil and introduce market-ready innovations to potential stakeholders, investors, and customers. Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of the commercialisation efforts, adapting strategies as needed to ensure alignment with market trends and project objectives.

Requirements

Strong understanding of the market needs in Ghana, including key stakeholders, market trends and dynamics, and commercialisation pathways. Awareness of market opportunities, pricing strategies, and growth potential. Creative and proactive approach to solving problems and generating new ideas Expertise in business development and market analysis, with a proven track record of successfully commercialising product(s) or project(s). Demonstrated understanding of supply chain management and sourcing strategies Excellent project management skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to identify and address challenges in the innovation-to-commercialisation value chain. Strong communication and negotiation skills to engage with diverse stakeholders, including researchers, industry players, and investors. Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop data-driven strategies and make informed decisions. Adaptability and flexibility to navigate changing market conditions and evolving stakeholder needs. Demonstrated understanding of product export to European and other international markets Degree in a relevant field, such as marketing, business administration, etc. Minimum 5 years of experience in commercialisation, sales, or business development. Proven track record of successfully commercialising products and bringing innovative products to market. Familiarity with the Ghanaian regulatory landscape, including key institutions, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
